Shot on Polaroid type 55 with a 4x5 camera. The Sabattier effect was accomplished by using a shortened processing time, then opening the positive/negative sandwich in the dark and blasting the negative with with a flashgun. A semi-reversal of the image occurs producing what you see above.
The results are always different and seldom repeatable (at least for me) so when it works it's pretty cool.
I can't believe you haven't received any favorites or comments on this piece. It is amazing! The process you used alone is worth some praise. I haven't seen this type of 3D effect with a polaroid before.
I am a big fan of 4x5 polaroids, especially type 55, so this was a great find for me.
I would really like to try this format, but type 55 is quite expensive unless you buy it outdated.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
